I am a HUGE Washington Wine Lover but I recently came across a chianti that elevates pizza to a new plane. The Santa Margherita chianti is $17. 99 and worth every penny.

Ed and I really enjoyed the AniChe Cellars wines during our Gorge Passport trip and during Debuts and Discoveries. A bit off the beaten path, it is well worth it to take a bit of a side trip to check out AniChe Cellars. We really enjoy the Moth Love!

Wasn’t sure if you had see the pictorial from yesterday’s market but I wanted to share it with your readers

It shows vibrance, color and community PLUS it makes me nostalgic looking at pictures of Willie Green’s carrots. :)

I first need to state that I used to work for the Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance. I remember the early days of the Magnolia market. Controversy has surrounded the Magnolia market since the beginning. It all depends on what it is that you value. Nutrition, price, community, quality price ration QPR, convenience, health, sustainability and [...]

No rennet is used in this fromage blanc. The curds are created in this fresh cheese by the acidification of the lemons and enzymes in the buttermilk.

ThumbnailI may be coming late to this party but I am singing the praises of Red Velvet Apricots! When you have a soggy Seattle spring, you can get tired of winter citrus. Farmers announced today that local berry season has been delayed another two weeks and I was CRAVING fresh fruit. I had tried a few [...]

Sometimes being a geek has its benefits.  While helping a friend at Wine World Warehouse with a computer, I was offered a  sip of  Domaine des Tours Vin du Pays Vaucluse 2007 . I am not a wine expert but a student of wine. I have a lot to learn about French wines and this one intrigued me. [...]

ThumbnailGood friend Vivian declared the summer of 2010 to be the summer of the smoked tomato.  So, I took every opportunity this summer to hickory smoke delicious fresh tomatoes. Smoked tomatoes were so popular that Nancy requested smoked tomatoes for her  October birthday.  My patio tomatoes made it October but a frost, just a week before [...]

ThumbnailWhat do you do when you want red wine for dinner but you don’t want red meat? Bridge ingredients can help you match food and wine. Nancy, at Devine Table , gives her recipe for roasted chicken with truffled butter paired with Cab Franc. When it came time for her birthday dinner, she wanted a Malbec. Knowing her meat preferences, [...]

The wine that really blew me away that night was the 2000 Russell Creek Winery Merlot that Nancy added last minute to the menu. It was the wine that I kept going back to, over and over again.

I am SO jealous. Vivian has been taunting me about her paella for over a year now. I even was bribing her with opening a bottle of the Woodhouse Tempranillo reserve and still no luck!
It sounds like you ladies had a wonderful time. :)

  • Bean wrote a new blog post: Yum Woon Sen – A Versatile Spicy Thai Noodle Salad   1 year, 9 months ago · View

ThumbnailYum Woon Sen is one of my favorite summer salads, especially when the weather is hot and sticky. It was one of my go-to dishes when we were traveling in Thailand. The lime and lemongrass flavors are so refreshing in this salad that I knew that I wanted to start serving this at home. The salad [...]

  • Bean commented on the blog post Roasted Fruit and Garlic Compote   1 year, 10 months ago · View

Garlic and fruit are not two words that I usually like to see together. Frankly I was surprised that garlic appeared in the title of this article because I have had the pleasure of enjoying this compote twice! In hindsight it makes sense and I think one of the keys to how this dish pairs [...]

I remember that you brought this gazpacho to my house the first time you came over. It was the first time that I had white gazpacho. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical but this recipe totally won me over. Just last week, Ed and I were talking about how we could talk [...]

ThumbnailI made simple appetizers for my wine and cheese pairing class, taking the scandalous step of adding a BEER to my pairing. I simply used home made fromage blanc , topping it with raspberries and proscuitto. It was delicious and to me it epitomized spring. I decided to top it with TWO raspberries  because I wanted to ensure [...]

  • Bean wrote a new blog post: How to Make Fresh Fromage Blanc   1 year, 11 months ago · View

ThumbnailFresh, home made Fromage Blanc is delicious but it does take some time to prepare. It is time well spent however. I have read other food writers say that making fromage blanc at home is more expensive but I disagree. The trick is to maximize the curd production. I’ll show you how to make your own [...]
